ANGELES (September 12, 2013) – JJ Abrams' annual
Oscar Party, held at his Bad Robot offices in Santa Monica, CA has
become one of the most anticipated events of award season with past
attendees from Steven Spielberg & Tom
Cruise to Kate Winslet, Kenneth Branagh &
Julia Roberts.
Celebrating the
US-Ireland Alliance, the
affluential OSCAR WILDE event, held annually on the
Thursday night before the Academy Awards, selects
a minimum of two honorees each year, with past honorees incuding Paul
Rudd, Melissa McCarthy, Michelle Williams, Jim Sheridan, Van Morrison,
James L. Brooks & J.J. Abrams himself (lower left
with wife Katie McGrath at the event's 5th annaul celebration).
On
Feb 27th, 2014, the 9th annual honorees will include
Conan O'Brien (upper left) and Youtube Co-Founder, Chad Hurley.
By
1988, the talents of Harvard graduate and improv performer Conan
O’Brien had come to the attention of Lorne Michaels,
who hired O'Brien as a writer on SNL. Conan following that
experience with two years as a writer/producer for Fox series, The
Simpsons, and then in 1993, as the host of his own WGA &
Emmy-Award winning show, Late Night, on NBC. In 2010, O’Brien
Iaunched a new talk show, CONAN, on the cable network TBS.
Looking
for a way to share videos with his friends, Chad Hurley
co-founded YouTube in 2005. Eight years later, 100 hours of video
is uploaded onto the site each minute and the number of unique users
visiting every month has reached 1 billion. Hurley and his YouTube
cofounder, Steve Chen, recently launched Avos, a new digital media
creation and discovery company that includes MixBit, a video creation
app -- a way for movie content to be created, mixed and edited around
the world.
